To commemorate the Toy Truckin’ and Construction Show held in Indianapolis, Toy Trucker commissioned Tonkin Replicas’ PEM Trucks to build a highly detailed 1:64 scale Western Star 4900 log truck.

The new log truck features a number of new details for the PEM line such as doors that open, log bunks than swivel, removable gun barrels, and a trailer that mounts on the cab for easy transportation when it isn’t hauling logs!

Of course, no self-respecting logger would be caught dead without his axe and shovel mounted behind the cab and those are included too. For rookie loggers a large “steel” cable is included on the trailer, making it easier to grab. Veterans will find a smaller removable cable to make sure it stays out of the way while driving.

Great care was taken in building in all the unique features that make a log truck special. The term “gun barrels” originally comes from the post-WWII era when creative loggers found surplus government gun barrels to be the perfect solution for the hardened steel tubes they needed to mount on the log bunks - removable so they could either add height when needed, or taken down to make the trailer more portable. In keeping with this tradition of innovation, Tonkin Replicas has made the scale version of the gun barrels on the replica removable as well.
